About Us

Settrington All Saints’ Primary School is a Church of England voluntary controlled co-educational day school. The school exists to serve the whole community; it has strong links to the village church and to the local community. Christian values are built into the foundation, ethos and teaching of the school. The school welcomes children of all denominations.

The school was built in 1852 and was extended in 2008 to include a new reception and office areas, modernised cloakroom and toilet facilities for Early Years and Key Stage 1 and improved access to ensure inclusion for all.  In 2018, the school buildings were further expanded to include a new Early Years classroom and playground and an improved dining and kitchen area, enabling Early Years and Key Stage 1 children to have the very best start to their Settrington school life.

The Governors, Headteacher, and staff are committed to the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum. We recognise that each child is an individual and our aim is that this curriculum will nurture their development and help them to realise their potential, be it mental, physical, spiritual, or moral.

We strive to make all children aware of their responsibility, as individuals and collectively, to ensure the success and happiness of everyone associated with the school.

We support and are supported by the Church in the work we do.

Our Settrington Values

  • Love
  • Serve

    Biblical References

Jesus spoke about Love and Service to his disciples:

Luke 10:27Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.”

    Love your neighbour as yourself.”

    Our Vision

    • Christian values shine through everything we do.
    • Everyone in our school should be happy, fulfilled and valued as an individual.
    • Everyone in our community should thrive in a safe environment, challenged and stimulated to achieve their very best.
    • This is a nurturing school where everyone matters.

    Our Aims

    We seek to:

    • Create a well-ordered school, with high standards of behaviour and sound teaching and learning.
    • Encourage high standards in literacy and numeracy, and a variety of subjects and activities to ensure the development of a well-rounded individual.
    • Ensure that individual abilities and talents are recognised and fostered and met with the appropriate teaching and learning opportunities.
    • Encourage consideration for others, based on courtesy, good behaviour and mutual respect.
    • Introduce children to the Christian faith through teaching, worship and example.

       Our Ethos

      • The Christian faith will be taught and Christian values will be reflected in the life of the school.
      • Every pupil will be valued and each one will be expected to care for others.
      • The quality of the corporate life of the school should be such that all the children will develop a real sense of their individual worth and values for life.
      • In this secure, happy and supportive school each child should flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.

        British Values

As a part of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development of our pupils, British schools are required to actively promote the British values of:

        • Democracy
        • The rule of law
        • Individual liberty
        • Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs

Settrington School promotes these values through our Christian ethos and through our behaviour policy and school rules, whilst acknowledging that these are fundamental human values inherent within many global societies and they are not exclusive to Britain.

These values are embedded across our curriculum and underpin the agreed contract between pupils, parents, governors and staff at Settrington School.
