General Teaching Assistant (Early Years)

Start date: September 2026

Contract: Fixed term contract for 1 year, 27.5 hours a week (8.45am-3.15pm with 1 hr lunch) Monday to Friday

Salary: NYCC Grade C spinal point 3

We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed General Teaching Assistant to join our team from September 2026, supporting teaching and learning within our new Nursery/Reception class.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of developing our Early Years provision within a small, friendly rural primary school at the heart of the community.

In this role you will:

  • Support teaching and learning in our Nursery/Reception class
  • Work with individuals and small groups of children
  • Help to create a safe, stimulating and engaging learning environment
  • Assist with the delivery of Early Years provision and routines
  • Support children’s personal, social and emotional development
  • Work closely with the class teacher and wider staff team

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with young children (ideally in Early Years)
  • Is kind, patient and nurturing
  • Has good communication and teamwork skills
  • Is enthusiastic, flexible and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
