Learning Through Nature and Community
As a small rural school set in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside, we make the most of our beautiful surroundings. Outdoor learning forms an important part of Nursery life, allowing children to explore nature, develop their physical skills and gain first-hand experiences of the world around them.
We believe that children learn best when they are active, engaged and connected to their environment. Whether exploring seasonal changes, hunting for mini-beasts, planting and growing, or taking part in imaginative outdoor play, our children develop confidence, curiosity and a sense of wonder.

Being based within a primary school provides children with unique opportunities to become familiar with school life from an early age. Nursery children benefit from access to excellent facilities, specialist resources and wider school experiences, whilst enjoying the security and care of a dedicated Early Years environment. As part of the Settrington family, children build strong relationships with staff and older pupils, making the transition into Reception smooth, familiar and exciting.
