Class One

Spring Term

Welcome back.  We hope you have had a fabulous break - the children were definitely ready for a rest.

This term we are looking at inventions.  In particular we are looking at Printing and the influence of William Caxton.  We will be exploring different ways of printing and how this relates to the books we read today.  We will be visiting Beck Isle Museum at the end of February where the children will see the Columbia Printing Press and have a go at 'Easy peasy printing'.  More details will follow.

We will be exploring materials and the habits of birds in Science, continuing with the annual Big Bird Watch event taking place at the end of January.  We will link materials to our work on narrative in English in the form of The Three Little Pigs and explore alternative versions to this story.

A polite reminder, please could we have book bags with reading books in school everyday.  We will now be changing from spellings on Friday to Monday where we will also change Rainbow words if needed.  As our Forest School sessions have now ended, we will be back in the village hall for PE every Wednesday morning.  PLEASE could we have kit in school with your child's name clearly labelled on all items - it is much appreciated!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to arrange to see us.
